Air Jordan 9 (IX)
The Release of the Air Jordan 9
The Air Jordan 9 has a unique story behind it. For starters, it was the first shoe in the Jordan line that was never worn by Michael on and NBA court. Actually, due to Michael Jordan’s retirement, Tinker Hatfield designed them in the form of baseball cleats Jordan was wearing in the minor-leagues. The sneakers featured a sleek upper with a lateral forefoot support story. Along the outsole, it will be Mark Smith’s graphic patterning that the IX is most remembered for. They also featured several other intriguing characteristics such as dynamic-fit inner bootie, a one-pull lace system, and words and symbols written in several languages. According to Hatfield, Air Jordan 9 represents “the globalization of the Air Jordan brand name.”
Air Jordan hit the spotlight all over
While they were not the greatest Air Jordans produced, they received the most attention from the big screen. They were featured in Michael Jordan’s own Space Jam and The Little Rascals. They are also the shoe that was put on Michael’s statue outside the United Center in Chicago.
